Neel-Schaffer has an opportunity for a Tennessee H&H Lead / Senior Project Manager to join our growing engineering firm. This position will be based in one of our three Tennessee offices, Nashville, Chattanooga or Murfreesboro.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking for career growth and possessing good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will be a part of Neel-Schaffer’s Water Resources Team and will lead the H&H team in Tennessee. The successful candidate will routinely coordinate with other Neel-Schaffer state H&H Leads and Regional H&H Leads, and may work with other H&H technical staff across the company.

Typical projects include various types of drainage, flood control, bridge hydraulic studies/designs, bridge scour analyses, stormwater management studies, and design/contract plans for flood control and stormwater infrastructure projects. A limited amount of travel may be required for some projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer in the state of Tennessee with the ability to become licensed in other states in the Southeast US.
  • 10+ years of experience with technical work, project management and staff management in Water Resources/Hydrology/ Hydraulics.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize.
  • Advanced knowledge of the latest hydrologic and hydraulic computer modeling programs, including GIS-based applications, 1D, 2D, dynamic/unsteady-flow (e.g. HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, 1D/2D, PCSWMM, SMS, StormCAD, etc.
  • Experience with Microstation (and/or GEOPAK/OpenRoads), AutoCAD (and/or Civil 3D), and ArcGIS is preferred.
  • Ability to perform a limited amount of field work, including drainage investigations, drainage asset inventorying, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
