Renaissance at Colony Park Lifestyle Center Phase II

RIDGELAND, MS

State-of-the-art theater, dazzling fountain among new additions

Neel-Schaffer provided all aspects of civil site design for the Phase II expansion of the Renaissance at Colony Park lifestyle center, Mississippi’s premier shopping destination.

Phase II of the facility in Ridgeland (MS) added 125,000 square feet of retail space, including provisions for a Zea Rotisserie & Bar and for a state-of-the-art Malco theater, the Renaissance Cinema Grill.

Neel-Schaffer provided engineering services for utility infrastructure, pavement design and pedestrian circulation.  Neel-Schaffer initiated design services for Phase II in early 2018. Construction began in late 2018 and the first new tenants were open for business in November 2019 (Zea) and December 2019 (Renaissance Cinema Grill).

The six-screen boutique theater encompasses approximately 25,000 square feet and has six luxury recliner auditoriums with reserved seating and Dolby 7.1 digital surround sound. The theater also features quick-casual food and a full bar.

Another exciting feature of the expansion is a plaza-level show fountain near the theater that has quickly become an entertainment showcase for shoppers. The fountain sprays water high in the air, choregraphed with music and multi-colored lighting. It has 62 nozzles that shoot water up to 35 feet high, four multi-axis nozzles that twist, 200 color-changing LED lights, and building mounted speakers.

Neel-Schaffer also provided engineering design services for Phase 1 of the Renaissance on Colony Park, which was completed in 2008, providing 500,000 square feet of retail space that includes shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The development also has a six-story, 110-room Hyatt Place hotel.
