STARKVILLE, MS
First step in this planned ‘traditional neighborhood development’
Neel-Schaffer was contracted to provide civil site design for a $13 million assisted living facility that was built as the initial development in a 500-acre mixed-use traditional neighborhood development in Starkville.
The Claiborne at Adelaide provides housing for 44 assisted living beds and 24 memory care units. Seven duplex cottages provide 14 independent living quarters.
Neel-Schaffer also provided hydrology, layout, survey, soil testing and civil construction administration services for the Claiborne. The master plan calls for New Urbanism design, with pedestrian-friendly, narrow walkable streets.
In a separate project, Neel-Schaffer provided design and construction administration services to help the City of Starkville build an entrance road off of South Montgomery Drive that provides access to the development. Funded in part by a $150,000 economic development grant from the Mississippi Development Authority, the road has curbs and gutters and provides on-street parking.
