JACKSON, Miss. (August 29, 2018) – Neel-Schaffer, Inc., is pleased to announce that Ed Everitt has joined the firm and will serve as General Counsel.

Everitt has practiced law for 12 years, the last seven as in-house Counsel for one of the nation’s largest construction and engineering firms. Before going in-house, Everitt practiced construction litigation for one of the preeminent law firms in the Southeast. Everitt has a civil engineering background and worked for a consulting engineering firm prior to attending law school.

He has extensive experience in the areas of construction law, risk management, contract review and negotiation, risk avoidance, business entity formation and management, construction and engineering license management, and mergers and acquisitions.

“We are excited to have Ed joining the Neel-Schaffer family,” said Joey Hudnall, PE, Neel-Schaffer’s Chief Operations Officer. “This is a unique opportunity for us to hire an attorney who once worked in the engineering consulting field and for the last 12 years has represented contractors and engineers. Ed will help us in all areas of contract negotiations, risk management, and risk management training.”

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join Neel-Schaffer and am looking forward to supporting such an outstanding group of professionals,” said Everitt.

“Having an engineering background has been a great asset as a construction lawyer, and my experience in the industry should help make the transition to Neel-Schaffer as seamless as possible.”

Everitt earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University and a JD from the University of Mississippi.
