Neel-Schaffer, an Engineering News-Record Top 500 Design firm with offices in nine states, has an immediate opportunity for a Construction Inspector to join our growing engineering firm. This position will be based in Atlanta, Georgia or surrounding metro area. Travel will be required.

This position involves skilled sub-professional engineering work in the field and office.  The Construction Inspector will act independently and as part of a team in providing inspection of specific parts of contract work, such as highway, bridge, municipal design build projects, asphalt laydown operations, grading, or concrete inspection.

Education and/or experience:

• Three (3) + years experience in Construction Engineering and Inspection on roadway and/or bridge transportation construction projects
• Previous Inspector experience with GDOT, preferred
• GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training Group 1 and 2, preferred
• GDOT WECS, required
• GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification, or ability to obtain within first 2 months of employment, preferred
• GSWCC Level 1A, required
• Working knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods, materials, and equipment.
• Working knowledge of GDOT manuals, policies and procedures
• Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts; and interpret construction plans, provisions, standards, and specifications
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer skills are required; including knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Travel into Metro Atlanta is required, clean driving record
