Neel-Schaffer expands Atlanta office

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 13, 2016) – Neel-Schaffer, Inc., is pleased to announce it has strengthened its roadway and bridge design capabilities in Georgia by making four key hires to work in the firm’s new mid-town Atlanta office.

The moves come as Neel-Schaffer strives to expand the transportation design services it offers to clients throughout Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee.

“These hires will help add depth and great experience to a very important service we offer,” said Craig Hanchey, Senior Vice President for Neel-Schaffer’s East Region operations. “They will greatly help us expand our roadway design and structural engineering capabilities in Georgia and throughout the other states we serve.”

The hires include:

Simone has nearly 25 years of experience in transportation design and project management. He has worked on a wide variety of projects for the Georgia Department of Transportation and the DOTs in Cobb and Gwinnett counties in Georgia. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from Southern Polytechnic State University.

Gonzalez has more than 13 years of experience on a wide range of federal, state, and locally sponsored transportation projects. He has worked on new interstate interchanges, state highways, intersection improvements, bridge replacements, streetscape projects, and maintenance projects across Georgia. Gonzalez holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

MacLean has 30 years of experience, including more than 10 in hydrology, hydraulics, storm water management, floodplain management, floodplain delineations, stream restorations, and erosion protection. He holds PE registrations in Georgia, North Carolina, and New York, and he holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University.

McAtee has a decade of experience in all aspects of roadway design. He has worked on projects for GDOT and several other DOTs in the South. McAtee holds PE registrations in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi, and he holds Bachelor and Master degrees in Civil Engineering from Auburn University.

“The experience Eneil, Jay, Patrick, and David bring will be a big plus for us in Atlanta and throughout Georgia,” said Keith Franklin, PE, the Engineer Manager who oversees Neel-Schaffer’s operations in Georgia. “We are especially excited about their work with government agencies and the Georgia Department of Transportation. That experience, and the contacts they have developed in Georgia, will be a great benefit to the firm as we continue to expand and increase our services in Georgia.”
