Neel-Schaffer has an opportunity for an experienced Information Technology (IT) Administrator to join our growing engineering firm. This position can be based in one of the following offices – Jackson or Biloxi, MS; Birmingham or Mobile, AL; Atlanta, GA; Baton Rouge, LA; or Dallas, TX.

The successful candidate must have relevant work experience and an aptitude for maintaining, operating and monitoring computer systems while assisting with solving operation issues in a Microsoft Windows OS environment.

Expertise and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and troubleshoots technical issues and problems with users in multiple office locations.
  • Assists employees in identifying and resolving computer problems and issues within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Installs, upgrades, and configures hardware and software components.
  • Troubleshoots hardware, including repairing or replacing damaged or aged IT equipment.
  • Consults with other offices on their computer systems and maintain and monitor office to office communications via computer systems.
  • Assists in purchasing hardware and software.
  • Inventory and monitor computer system service agreements.
  • Maintains inventory of hardware and software including spare parts.
  • Obtains proposals from hardware and software vendors.
  • Performs minor programming and input data revisions through computer console to maintain operation.
  • Develops operating methods to process data; makes minor changes in canned (Standardized) programs or routines to modify output content or format.

The candidate should have a strong work ethic, the capacity to work well with fellow employees and the ability to work well with minimal supervision. The successful candidate must be flexible in supporting our Neel-Schaffer offices and understand that some overnight and out-of-town travel maybe required periodically, including on weekends, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in information technology is preferred, or a related degree.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of enterprise infrastructure and operations experience.
  • Experience working in and supporting teams within an AEC environment preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting network, hardware, and software issues; knowledge of current technological trends.
  • Experience supporting and working with AutoDesk (i.e., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.), Bentley (i.e., Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, etc.), ESIR (i.e., ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, etc.), Bulebeam, and other engineering design software is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Cloud (i.e. Aws, Azure, GCP), Active Directory, VPN, and Virtualization.
    Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with Windows OS.
  • Knowledge of maintaining and supporting mobile devices, primarily Apple devices.
  • Skill in the use of peripheral computer input and output devices as necessitated by work assignments.
  • Familiarity with virtual machine (VM) platform, preferably VMware, is a plus.
