PROJECT SPOTLIGHTS Municipal
Southlake Public Safety Facility |
Southlake, TX
The City of Southlake contracted with Neel-Schaffer
to provide a host of civil engineering design services
for this project that included the construction of a new
department of public safety facility and the adjacent
North Park athletic complex.
Working with RPGA Architects, Neel-Schaffer provided civil
engineering services that included site grading, drainage,
parking lot paving and water and sanitary sewer. We also
provided surveying services that included topographic
design survey, site-plan exhibits, zoning exhibits, platting,
separate instrument legal documents, tree surveys, tree
preservation plan and construction staking services.
Our site-grading services included excavation balancing
and designing ADA-compliant facilities. The parking
lot drainage consisted of conventional curb inlets
and multiple slotted drains. The water system design
included a looped system for providing fire protection
and domestic services for the facility. We provided water
modeling for the city to determine available fire flow
and residual pressures. Other drainage improvements
included a 3.2-acre detention/retention pond, pond outlet
structure, and outfall drainage structure.
Tuscaloosa Intermodal Parking
Facility | Tuscaloosa, AL
The City of Tuscaloosa (AL) contracted with Neel-Schaffer
to provide structural engineering services for a four-level,
189,360-square-foot Intermodal parking facility in downtown
Tuscaloosa. The facility includes a parking deck, retail space,
office space, and a pedestrian bridge that provides access to
an adjacent building.
Services for the $11.4 million project provided by Neel-
Schaffer included structural design and analysis for the
primary structural systems, including the foundation system.
Neel-Schaffer prepared AutoCAD structural drawings
and structural specifications as required for bidding and
construction by others. Construction phase services included
review of structural shop drawings and site visits as required
to determine general conformance with project requirements.
