PROJECT SPOTLIGHTS Aviation

Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport Runway Resurfacing | Gulfport, MS

Neel-Schaffer provided multiple services for a $5.9 million project to resurface the 5,500-foot by 150-foot asphalt
section of Runway 14-32 at Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, the main runway at the busiest airport on the
Mississippi Gulf Coast. This was the last piece in a larger puzzle to rehabilitate the runway after a NS inspection in 2013
        identified pavement deterioration.
Neel-Schaffer managed a project to replace the concrete touchdown zones in 2014, and in 2017 NS provided
engineering design and CE&I for the project to mill and overlay the asphalt portion of 14-32. Construction began
on April 10, 2017 and was completed on August 18, 2017. The construction work was completed at night, under an
extremely tight deadline, because one of the requirements was the runway would stay open every day – and there
would be no flight delays caused by the construction.

Bruce Campbell Field Hangar & Terminal | Madison, MS

Neel-Schaffer has completed multiple projects since 2013 for the City of Madison
at Bruce Campbell Field, including a new hangar and new terminal building in 2017.
This general aviation airport serves a variety of business aircraft, including single
and multi-engine piston driven, turbine, and jet aircraft.

In 2013, Neel-Schaffer completed an Airport Terminal Study to assist the City in
determining the optimum size, layout, location, and associated infrastructure
required to site a new General Aviation Terminal Building. In 2014, Neel-Schaffer
designed a project to construct a new apron and taxiway. This project was funded
by the FAA, with a total project cost of approximately $465,000.
