Training and Safety Coordinator
Brigadier General Shields joined Neel-Schaffer in 2007 and serves as the firm’s Training and Safety Coordinator. He is based in the firm’s Jackson (MS) office.
General Shields has been a trainer for over 40 years, with 27 of those years as a professional military trainer responsible for over 12,000 soldiers training at the individual and collective level. Responsibilities included both schools and tactical training. Included in the training was Professional Ethics IAW the Federal Ethics Regulation.
He retired from the Mississippi Army National Guard with 38 years of military service, including 32 years with the Army Guard. He retired as the Chief of Staff of the Mississippi National Guard and militarily as the Commander of the 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command. In this capacity, he was responsible for more than 3,000 full-time employees and an annual budget of more than $420 million.
