James Vinson, PE
SoilTech Practice Leader
James joined SoilTech Consultants, Inc., in 2018 and serves as the SoilTech Practice Leader, managing a team of 20 employees who work out of five Mississippi offices.
Based in SoilTech’s headquarters office in Ridgeland, James works with others to execute geotechnical investigations, materials testing, and drilling for the firm’s five offices. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Texas, and Michigan.
James has more than 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and project management, including 17 as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for CDM Smith in Knoxville.
He has extensive experience in scope and fee development, project execution, plans and specifications, and management of staff, subcontractors, and budgets. He is highly qualified in the design and construction of design-build and design-bid-build transportation projects in multiple states and geologies.
Across diverse geologic settings, James has provided geotechnical services and analysis for transportation, roadway, pavement, bridge, retaining wall, CE&I, parks and recreation, railroad, airport, commercial, industrial, residential, institutional, utility, landfill, pond, dam, and levee projects. Mr. Vinson also has extensive experience in forensic engineering, providing investigative services following flooding, landslides, sinkholes, and demolitions.
