Senior Construction Engineer
Danny joined Neel-Schaffer in 2011 and has more than 30 years of experience in road and bridge construction.
Based in the firm’s Columbia (SC) office, he worked for the South Carolina Department of Transportation as a Resident Construction Engineer, District Construction Engineer, and State Road Construction engineer before retiring from SCDOT after holding the Director of Construction position for 12 years.
Danny managed the SCDOT construction program from 1995 to 2010 including the regular state and federal programs in the amount of approximately $600 million per year. In addition to the regular construction program, he managed the construction of the design build projects, bonded interstate and bridge programs and the accelerated 27 in 7 program. He was directly involved in some of the largest design-build projects ever constructed by SCDOT: Conway Bypass ($386 mil), Carolina Bays ($120 mil), Ravenel Bridge ($615 mil), Palmetto Parkway ($175 mil), SC 170 ($70 mil), statewide bridge replacement ($45 mil) and the Southern Connector ($300 mil).
