Neel-Schaffer has an opportunity for a qualified Safety Manager and Facilitator to join our growing firm. This position is based in our Birmingham, AL office, and requires regular travel to perform work across the company’s footprint.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated site safety experience managing general health and safety policies and procedures to champion a continuous improvement model focused on a proactive safety culture, employee safety and occupational health. He/She will assist with implementing long-term health and safety strategies and short-term initiatives that satisfy compliance requirements to include but not limited to training, investigations, audits and inspections. As a highly visible member of the team, you will help to build a proactive safety culture through direct and intentional engagement with stakeholders across regions and disciplines.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, and/or Environmental Health a plus; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least four years of safety management, occupational health and safety in an industrial, construction or engineering environment preferred.
- CSM, CHST or STS, OHST, CIT, ASP, SMP certifications, preferred.
- Knowledgeable of regulatory standards for construction, general industry, EM385-1-1and DOTs.
- Experience completing regular compliance observations and inspections.
- An average of at least 50 hours of formal safety training each year over the past 4 years, preferred
- Training in the following areas: Defensive Driving, Work Zone, Personal Protective Equipment, HAZWOPER, OSHA 10 & 30-HR, Fall Protection, Excavation & Trenching, Scaffolding, Confined Space, Electrical, Job Hazard Analysis and First Aid/CPR.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, another other technical tools.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
