CEI Project Administrator/Project Engineer

Neel-Schaffer, an ENR Top 200 Design firm with offices or projects in nine states, has an opportunity for a CEI Project Administrator / Project Engineer to join our growing engineering firm. This position will cover work in the Florida Panhandle area, from Mobile, AL, to Tallahassee, FL. The ideal candidate will be based in either of those cities or any locations between.

This position involves skilled Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) field work. The CEI Project Administrator / Project Engineer will receive general instructions regarding assignments and exercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problems. They will be responsible for directing and assigning specific tasks to administrative and field staff and assisting in all phases of the construction project, including progress estimates and final estimates throughout the construction project duration.


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent LICENSURE (for CEI Project Engineer).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registered in the State of Florida.
  • Must obtain endorsement in the State of Florida within six months of Project NTP if registered in another state.


For personnel with Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management degrees:

  • Two years of engineering experience in relevant transportation projects.
  • A Master’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management may be substituted for one year of engineering experience.

For personnel without Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management degrees:

  • Eight years of CEI or roadway or bridge construction experience.
  • Two of those years involved in relevant transportation projects.


Qualifications/certifications for this position may be obtained within six months from the date of hire provided that this position works under the supervision and direction of a Senior Project Engineer, all other requirements for the position are met, and a training plan is submitted detailing when the qualifications/certifications will be obtained.
