(Jackson, Miss., - Dec. 18, 2009) A little over a month ago, one of Neel-Schaffer’s senior officers David Wright received the prestigious American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Chairman Emeritus Award. Previously called the Past Chairman Award, the Chairman Emeritus Award is given to an individual who, in the opinion of ACEC’s past chairmen, has made an outstanding contribution to the Council through long-term leadership and service.
“Dave Wright is a role model for volunteer leadership, commitment and substantive contributions to the Council over a long period of time,” said ACEC President Dave Raymond. “Whether on the Executive Committee, Membership Committee, or other high-level Council bodies, Dave Wright has always brought unique expertise, insight and passion to developing and propelling ACEC’s advocacy and business agenda.”
Wright served as Vice Chairman on ACEC’s Executive Committee from 2002 to 2004. He also chaired ACEC’s Membership Committee from 2007 to 2009, during which time he guided the Council and addressed the Board of Directors on key voting issues, such as the dues cap adjustment; national membership eligibility for surveying firms; and reciprocity with states on non-regular membership. Wright also served on the ACEC Planning Cabinet from 1997 to 2003 and helped frame ACEC’s strategic plan. He currently serves on several ACEC committees in Georgia.
“This organization is important to me and one that I take great pride in being involved with.” said Wright
Wright, who has been involved with ACEC since 1987, was recognized last year as an ACEC Fellow, a prestigious award given to only six percent of industry professionals.
Having worked with Neel-Schaffer since 1993, Wright divides his time between the Atlanta and Florida offices. He credits the receipt of this award back to the firm, “I am honored to have been recognized for this service to ACEC and our profession. However, you can’t do things like this unless your company supports it. There are many senior professionals within Neel-Schaffer who are members and support this organization, so this award is also recognition of the firm.”
