Veteran Engineer Mike Alford joins Neel-Schaffer in Texas

Mike Alford BG CroppedHOUSTON, Texas (Jan. 8, 2016) – Neel-Schaffer, Inc., is pleased to announce that Mike Alford, PE, has joined the firm as a Senior Engineer based in the firm’s Houston office.

A former District Engineer with the Texas Department of Transportation, Alford will provide transportation design support and business development services for Neel-Schaffer’s offices in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington.

Alford recently retired after working 33½ years for TxDOT, the last three as the District Engineer for the six-county Houston District. As the District Engineer, he was responsible for planning, design, maintenance, construction, and ferry operations for the Houston District.

Alford filled a wide variety of roles during his 30-plus years with TxDOT, including Project Engineer, Field Staff Engineer, and Area Engineer.

Alford oversaw more than $1 billion worth of transportation projects in each of his final two years with TxDOT. Recent Houston-area projects he managed as the District Engineer included Segments F and G for the ongoing Grand Parkway Loop, and the ongoing US 290 expansion.

Alford holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University.
